The Center for Information and Systems Assurance (CISAT) promotes the exploration of new ideas in information and systems assurance and trust by bringing together faculty from six schools and colleges at Syracuse University. CISAT serves to engage university partners including JPMorgan Chase, the US Air Force Research Laboratory‘s (AFRL) Information Directorate, and other agencies and companies to form a Community of Practice in information and systems assurance and trust.
This Community of Practice focuses on overarching interdisciplinary questions such as:
- What are the right combinations of policy, assurance, computing, and trust that balance risk, reward, safety, and innovation in ways that maximize participation and provide opportunity, while mitigating risk to acceptable levels?
- What must be assured and to what degree?
- How are the components of policy, law, technology, and assurance combined productively? What, if any, are the underlying principles guiding the combination?
- How is trustworthiness established and maintained (where trustworthiness includes integrity, confidentiality, reliability, safety, accountability, and ethics)?
CISAT also supports research, teaching, and outreach activities related to information and systems assurance and trust, as well as conferences, seminars, courses, and special offerings and events.
